Should you stay on or off Property?

I recently booked 2 trips to Disney. My fist trip at the end of January was off property and the second mid March was on property. I wanted to compare 2 resorts that were similarly priced and see the pros and cons of each.

Off Property

The off property resort we stayed at was the B Resort in the Disney Springs area. While its not an on property resort it it still considered part of the Disney resort family. I booked a deal for 3 nights and paid $507 plus taxes which came out to about $570. When I got there a was informed of a $34 per night resort fee plus and additional $27 per night parking fee. This brought my total up to almost $700 for 3 nights. The room was less than stellar. Broken lights (bedside and overhead), visibly dirty and dusty carpets and drapes, the furniture looked old and dinged up, and the bathroom door was broken and wouldn't shut. It was too cold to utilize the pool area and the spa is closed. There was a little coffee shop that seemed to never be open when we were in the lobby area. We did eat dinner in the resort restaurant, The American Kitchen & Bar and that was good. They do offer a shutter to the resorts but I didn't find it to be very convenient and we drove instead. Overall I was pretty turned off by this whole experience. The lobby was cute and & clean and the hotel staff was personable but I am not sure what the $34 resort fee covered and it really adds a lot to the overall price of the trip. I personally don't think any hotel/resort should charge for parking. There were no real perks to staying here. I did reach out after my stay about the condition of everything...I got the normal response "they are in the process of updating rooms, sorry about your stay etc" and they did offer me a discounted rate on my next stay ($109 a night).

On Property

The on property resort we stayed at in March was the All Star Music Resort. The total was $721.86 for 4 nights plus $60 for 4 nights of parking. I had never stayed here before and was pleasantly surprised with the rooms. They seemed to be recently updated and were very clean. We had a 2 queen room where one of the queens was a pull down bed. It made the room seem a lot bigger having a table durning the day and then just pulling down the bed for sleeping. Perks for staying on property include bus transportation that runs all day. Free parking at the parks. Early entry to parks. FastPass+ reservations at 7am. It had the standard Disney Food Court with a bunch of different options (my cousin who has celiacs joined us and had no problem getting food). We utilized the calypso pool which was super cute. The only downside was that we were in the "Country Fair" section which is the furthest from the pools/amenities. Overall I was super happy here. Everything was clean and well kept, which is the standard at any on property resort. No surprise resort fees. Convenient transportation to the parks.

So for the money you are paying I suggest staying on property! The perks are most definitely worth it and for the same (or less) money.
